Urban Junction Fitness

UJF is a functional fitness facility, working on strength and conditioning, for fitness enthusiasts and people that want to improve their quality of life. We work with a combination of techniques such as gymnastics, kettle bell work, body weight movements, power lifting and weightlifting. Our training philosophy is to create a holistic hybrid training system focused on getting the best results for clients specific to their needs and goals. This is achieved in a high-energy and fun environment combined with science and good posture.

Functional Movement

A type of exercise that supports everyday life by training your muscles to work together to achieve tasks. Functional movements include pulling, pushing, squatting, lunging, hinging and rotating.

Olympic Weightlifting

Weightlifting of a type performed as a competitive event at the Olympic Games. The lifts involved include the SNATCH and CLEAN AND JERK. These moves can be used to improve strength, speed and power, as well as enhance high-intensity exercise endurance.

Gymnastics

Exercises in which you move your body through a range of motion without an external load. These exercises include pull ups, pushups, box jumps, muscle ups, handstand walks and such.

Kettle Bell Fitness

A kettle bell is a cast iron ball with a handle attached to the top. It is used to perform various types of exercise that combine cardiovascular, strength and flexibility training. The movement of kettle bell workouts involve swinging which increases your heart rate and therefore works on the cardiovascular system, stretching to get into certain positions which increases flexibility and works on stability, as well as the actual weight behind the kettle bell which offers the benefit of weight training – strength and toning.

Goal Setting

Establishing a target within a given time frame. We will work with you and help you achieve your goals. Be it, health and fitness, mental or physical health, or to be competitive. We pride ourselves in being movement specialists and work to achieve the best and safest techniques.

A workout program that is a hybrid of bootcamp, functional movements, high intense interval training and core work. This is ideal for beginners and those looking to tone.

Nikita van Rooyen

Fitness Coach

Nikita has a successful gymnastics background with 15 years of Provincial Colours and Protea Colours at International competitions and numerous World Championships bringing back medals for South Africa.

Since competing in Crossfit she has won Last Man Standing 2015 and The Arnold Classic Throwdown 2016, got gold at the Arnold Classic Weightlifting 2018, got silver at the Arnold Classic Weightlifting 2016, the Arnold Classic Throwdown 2017, at the Battle and competed in the Crossfit Regionals 2018.

Nikita’s years of competing and training along with a Sport Science degree and Olympic Weightlifting Certification, puts Nikita in a position to help people better themselves. Nikita is a believer in hard work, which, combined with diligence, will yield results.

Pierre van Rooyen

Fitness Coach

Coach Pierre is very passionate about health and fitness and he will drive you to be the best you can be. He is always there to help you in the best way possible.

Pierre has an athletic background including Track and Field, Rugby, Judo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Crossfit and Olympic Weight Lifting.

Since doing Crossfit Pierre has been to Regionals 2012 and competed at numerous events across the country. Pierre has also been doing weightlifting since 2012 and has participated in seven Gauteng Champs and SA Champs, and broken 2 Gauteng Records.

Pierre also sustained a major back injury end of 2012. Since then he has worked with our chiro (Dr Travis Mitchell) and built back up to good health, stronger and more healthy than he was 10 years ago.

We do not take injuries lightly and we will do our utmost to help where we can. We also have first-hand experience in certain injuries and pride ourselves in good safe movement patterns to ensure longevity.
